Visitors can detect alfa, beta and gamma radiation with real radioactive sources and detectors. From the design constraints of Tinker, we made a proposal for the furniture dimensions. We designed and build two external moving elements in this furniture.
The filter measurement consists of three radioactive sources (alfa, beta and gamma) on a turning wheel. Between this wheel and the detectors is another turning wheel with four 'filters': air, paper, perspex en lead. Three detectors move in position by a lineair guiderail.
The spectrum measurement consists of a turntable on which three gamma sources are placed. A multi spectrum meters from Scionix reads the radiation and provides relevant information on a screen.
